Margaret River

Della Fay is a boutique family owned winery in the Margaret River wine region of Western Australia. We seek to produce the highest quality wines that make the most of the Margaret River region's cool maritime climate, pristine environment and healthy soils. Our selection includes Margaret River's flagship varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay as well as emerging Italian varieties Vermentino and Nebbiolo. We also produce Shiraz sourced from the Geographe region which offers some of the best shiraz fruit in Australia.

In 2013, we were rated as one of the Top 10 New Australian Wineries of The Year in the James Halliday Wine Compendium with the winery receiving the prestigious "Exceptional" designation and 5 star rating.

Geographe Reserve Shiraz

97 points - James Halliday Wine Companion 2018

"From the Barreca family vineyard that Michael Kelly believes is the best Shiraz region in WA. The deep purple-crimson hue is an impressive start, and while the initial impression is of a surfeit of new oak, retasting puts the vibrant and intense fruit far in front." - James Halliday

Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon

95 points - James Halliday Wine Companion 2018

"An uncompromisingly full-bodied cabernet with Bordeaux-like austerity to it despite its overcoat of new French oak. It’s built for the long haul, with a rock solid foundation of tannins." - James Halliday

Margaret River Chardonnay

Gold Medal - Scoop Wine Awards

"This is a modern-style chardonnay with a touch of winemaking funk that gives complexity - a touch of char, a struck match character on the nose. There's wonderful concentration of peachy, lemon citrus flavour in the mid-palate and some oaky acidity on the finish, all neatly integrated and balanced. Top gold for chardonnay"

Margaret River Nebbiolo

"As a grape grower and winemaker for over thirty years nebbiolo has provided the biggest challenge. It is a precocious variety that is difficult at every stage of its growth - hard to prune, first to grow in the spring, impossibly small yields, last to harvest - the list goes on and on. Yet the resultant wine has  flavour and tannin backbone like no other variety. Wonderful  flavours with great cellaring potential." - Michael Kelly

Margaret River Vermentino

92 Point Rating - The West Australian

"A variety with a real future if grown in the right places. The Kelly vineyard seems to suit things perfectly and this initial release under this label is a first-class example of this variety. Nice light spices and a light bodied, finely balanced palate. It’s a super drink with pickled vegies or seafood such as whitebait and baby squid." - Ray Jordan, The West Australian
